Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts Expands in Lisbon

Last June, the owners and management of Martinhal started their expansion strategy in Portugal by opening Martinhal Quinta in the Quinta do Lago area. Martinhal Quinta, previously known as Monte da Quinta Club, has had new facilities and renovations implemented and gives Martinhal’s guests an option to stay in the prestigious award-winning Quinta do Lago area famous for its beautiful golf courses and sophisticated restaurants 20 minutes from Faro airport.
In the spring of 2016, Martinhal will open the “World’s First City- Centre Elegant Family Hotel” in the trendy downtown area of Chiado in Lisbon. Martinhal Lisbon Chiado Family Suites will consist of 37 apartments and kid-friendly facilities and is located between Largo de Camões and Cais de Sodre. Martinhal Chiado will give guests the chance to enjoy the sights, sounds and the amazing experiences of Lisbon – one of the most popular choices for a city-break in Europe right now – while traveling with their children.

The 84 room Martinhal Lisbon Cascais Family Resort Hotel, previously the Onyria Edition Hotel in Quinta da Marinha, will also open in the spring of 2016. Martinhal Cascais will give guests a chance to experience the beauty of the Cascais / Sintra / Guincho area while dipping into the hustle and bustle of central Lisbon.

Chitra and Roman Stern, founders, owners and board members of the group are delighted to be able to expand their brand, Martinhal, which started in the corner of Europe in Sagres, into other areas of Portugal. “We believe Portugal has got great potential to grow, especially in the tourism sector, and we are continuing to invest in this country because we believe in it and love it!”
The owners and management remain committed to the key cornerstones of Martinhal’s brand philosophy – Luxury, Family and Design – and hope to have 2-3 more hotels under the same brand name in Portugal into the longer term.
