There have been further changes over the decades, with James Wright creating the famous and feared final three holes in 1937, but it is Braid’s name mostly closely associated with a links that has hosted the Open Championship eight times. It remains at the top of every golfer’s bucket list and after the drama of the last three Opens to be held here (1999, 2007, 2018), is it any wonder!
