Jameson Golf Links Portmarnock – “This is the full golf package”…

Jameson Golf Links Portmarnock – DG IRELAND TOP150 – 2025

Editor, Kevin Markham

When Portmarnock Links changed its name to Jameson Golf Links, it ushered in a new era of its evolution, one that embraced more of its history. That wasn’t the only change – far from it – as new ownership instigated significant upgrades to the course, hotel and
facilities. This is the full golf package and one so close to Dublin Airport that you often get a spectacular view of it from the plane.

The course is routed over bumpier terrain than its famous neighbour, despite their proximity, and that introduces the joy of unpredictability. Smart routing ensures that players get a warmup over the gentler dunes first, thus presenting an opportunity to
appreciate the tricky and muscular green complexes as well as the large, lavish putting surfaces. Wind or no wind, this is where the constant challenge lies.

The recent renovations saw six holes being re-routed, with new greens, tees, fairways and bunkers. Golfers will now enjoy more views of the sea, two thrilling new par threes and not one but two Biarritz greens.

The changes are dramatic and the links has grown from a par 71 to par 72. The final piece of the puzzle, completed in 2024, is the excellent risk vs reward par-4 17th.

FAVOURITE HOLE

The par four 16th is a left to right dogleg from a raised tee. You
can see the green over bunkers and rough and you take on as
much as you dare.

WHAT’S IN THE BAG?

Serious concentration is required on and around the greens. It
may be stating the obvious… but avoid the bunkers!!
