COVID-19 UPDATE FROM PORTUGAL.

At 00h00 on the 19 March the President of Portugal imposed a State of Emergency that will enable the Portuguese Government to impose special measures that can have an impact on freedom of movement, requisition of private services providers and other powers that limit the rights of people. The State of Emergency has now been extended until midnight on 19 April.

The measures include strong limitations to the right of movement, residents are now only allowed to circulate within their council boundaries.

All public places, including sports infrastructures ARE CLOSED (golf courses included).

The situation, including the measures to close all public places, will be revaluated nearer the ending date of the State of Emergency.

PORTUGAL has so far been able to minimise the impact of this pandemic and as today the number of confirmed infected cases are relatively small – 17448; the number of Covid-19 dead related cases 567.
