OKOL LAKE PARK GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY
OKOL Lake Park, Bulgaria’s newest and largest golf & residential development, has announced the start of Phase 1 of construction. The ground-breaking event took place last weekend at Gorni Okol village, in Samokov.
Located just 30 km southeast of Sofia and 25 km from Borovets, Bulgaria’s largest ski resort, OKOL Lake Park will set new standards in the region. Surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and offering spectacular views to the Iskar Lake and Rila Mountain, the project also offers a rich variety of holiday and family properties for sale.
The main contractor for OKOL’s construction is Markan EOOD, a subsidiary of Markan Holding AD, the capital investor of OKOL Lake Park.
OKOL has also partnered with multiple international companies such as AccorHotels, IMG and European Golf Design.

The golf course serves as the centrepiece of the resort and has been carefully placed upon rolling hilltops and natural features and offers stunning panoramic views of the Iskar Reservoir and surrounding countryside. Capable of hosting major international tournaments, the course will be carefully developed and managed, ensuring that it has a positive impact on both the natural beauty and resources of the land, as well as the local communities that surround.
The Phase 1 construction works are scheduled to continue for a period of two years. The opening of the golf course, clubhouse, golf academy, and the five-star Pullman Okol Golf Resort & Spa Hotel with adjacent branded residences, is planned for 2022.
Phase 1 also includes the Okol Linear Park and residential areas with holiday and family homes such as studios & lofts, terraced houses, stand-alone houses and lake-view custom villas. OKOL Lake Park’s first residents will be able to move into their new home in 2022.
