El Prat’s historic ‘Campeonato de Barcelona Absolut’

Marcel Fonseca was proclaimed the winner of the Campeonato de Barcelona played at the Real Club de Golf El Prat. Fonseca was very solid in the four days of the competition, doing a total of 280 strokes (-8), with no day above par.

 

The RCGP player added his name to the list of winners of this this historic championship, where there are great Spanish players such as Sergio García and Pablo Larrazábal. The Campeonato de Barcelona is a historic competition that has been held since 1957 at the Real Club de Golf El Prat.

 

The runner-up was the Valencian Rubén Lafuente with 285 strokes (-3), who reduced the gap with Marcel Fonseca on the third day, but the Catalan did not give up on Sunday. The Under-18 winner was Maximilian Puregger with 293 shots (+5) and the Mid-Amateur winner was Emilio Hernández with 296 shots (+8).

 

This championship has had the best amateur players in Spain and some of the best in Europe. The Campeonato de Barcelona was played on the pink course, and which, according to the players, was in excellent condition. The Barcelona golf club feels very proud to continue organizing high-level competitions and to satisfy the expectations of its players. This month, in addition to the Campeonato de Barcelona, it will host the largest international junior competition in the world, the Faldo Elite Series, from 22th to 24th of February.
