Dun Laoghaire Golf Club – IRELAND TOP150

Dun Laoghaire Golf Club – DG IRELAND TOP 150 – 2025

Editor, Kevin Markham

There are three nines at this plush parkland, which glides easily across hillsides looking into Co. Wicklow, at the Great Sugarloaf, and out to sea. They are called, simply, Lower, Middle and Upper… but there is nothing simple about Dun Laoghaire. From the clubhouse to the practice facilities to the course, this is quality golf.
The Lower nine drop away from the clubhouse onto mostly level terrain with big water features; the Middle nine are so colourful and shapely with a combination of trees and water; and the Upper nine offer the biggest changes in elevation, plenty of doglegs whipping across the hillside and more exposure to the wind.
Which nine will you prefer?
The two constants are the greens and the glorious views. The growing maturity of the course is enhancing Dun Laoghaire’s reputation day by day. The views from inside the clubhouse are special, too, and this is one of the most opulent you will find anywhere.
The Curtis Cup was held here in June, 2016, when the Great Britain and Ireland team, including Leona Maguire, Bronte Law and Meghan MacLaren won the cup with a three-point victory.

FAVOURITE HOLE

The par four 9th on the Middle course lays it all out ahead of you as the hole rises some 400 metres to the clubhouse, and a putting surface hidden from view.

WHAT’S IN THE BAG?

The greens have some fabulous shapes but it will be adapting to the demands of the different nines that may tease you most.
