A YEAR TO FORGET

Covid-19 had a devastating impact on the golf tourism industry worldwide in 2020. As we publish our last Global Guide of the year, it is time to look forward rather than back as we focus on the pent up demand for golf in Europe, which is expected to convert into a surge in golf travel for 2021.

With the much anticipated vaccine around the corner and new Government guidelines in place to ensure safe golfing holidays, Tourist Boards are creating effective communication partnerships and strategies for 2021, as we will all have a pivotal role in re-building consumer confidence for golf travel next year.

In this issue our travelling duo of Andrew and Paul Marshall talk about a previous visit to Spain’s Costa Brava to discover a region of world-class golf, cultural attractions, gourmet cuisine and fine wines. They also look back on a visit to one of the World’s great golfing road trips: from Scotland’s Mull of Kintyre to the picturesque Highlands.

We also chat to Stefano Bortolotti, Director at Club de Golf Son Servera, on the east coast of Mallorca, and Robert Jasper, the General Manager of the Sandton Sun Hotel in South Africa.

Lastly, we review the ‘virtual’ World Golf Awards 2020 in Dubai.

We hope you enjoy reading our golf guide.
