Destination Golf meets with Gonzalo Garcia from Golf Santander in Madrid

Golf Santander, located just 10 miles from central Madrid, blends naturally into the scenic landscape surrounding Banco Santander’s new headquarters in Boadilla.

A year after opening, it was ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top three courses in Spain. Designed by Rees Jones in collaboration with Spanish legend Seve Ballesteros, the course offers a championship-level layout just outside the capital.

Opened in 2005, it was built on a reclaimed landfill, transforming the area into a thriving environment for native flora and fauna. Thousands of trees and shrubs planted during construction are now maturing, enhancing the natural beauty of the course. At 6,856 meters, it’s one of Spain’s longest courses, but with six different tee options, it caters to golfers of all skill levels. The course’s ponds and creeks add both challenge and charm to the experience.
