Druid’s Glen

In terms of colour, rhythm, variety and sheer intrigue there is no Irish course to compare with Druid’s Glen. This is thrilling golf from start to finish and the club possesses the best set of par threes on the island.Despite the youthful age of the course (1995), Druid’s Glen feels so much older, flowing over rolling, mature parkland packed with wildlife. The Irish Open was held here from 1996 to 1999.
It is by no means an easy course – much of the back nine is laced with water – but this is all about the fun and thrilling shots. It doesn’t get much better than the par three 8th and 12th, both in enchanting settings and both promising watery ends for the faint of heart. The 18th is a tough but magnificent closing par four, which climbs all the way to a green jealously guarded by water. Beyond it sits the plush Woodstock House, built in the 1770s. It is a clubhouse to relax in.
Favourite Hole: the par four 13th is one of the best and toughest holes in the country. From a dramatic, high tee the fairway disappears around a cliff-face and beyond a stream. The long approach has to overcome a lake.
What’s in the Bag? The par threes will absorb you, but you’ll need to avoid all of the water.
