The Wonderful Woodenbridge Golf Club

Woodenbridge Golf Club

Destination Golf Ireland Top150 2023. Editor, Kevin Markham

Routed through a spectacularly wooded valley, Woodenbridge is
almost overwhelmed by the peaceful beauty all around it.

Two rivers weave through the course, adding to that beauty but also
adding to the challenges. You have to cross train tracks and one
of these rivers to reach the clubhouse. It’s the sort of start that fills
you with anticipation.

This is as sweet and relaxing a golf setting as you could ask for.
It is also a short, mostly straight course (par 71, 6,341 yards, back
tees) so you’ll feel ambitious stepping onto the 1st tee. But caution
is often required with trees often pressing in (early on) and greens
that can easily make a fool of you the whole way around. The par
five 18th requires a big drive across the widest stretch of the river
and it is a cracking finishing hole.

Favourite Hole
The short par three 8th is just a beautiful looking
hole as you play over the river to a green perched
on the edge.

What’s in the Bag?
A strong putting stroke and the ability to keep your
head down in such an enchanting setting.
