GALGORM CASTLE

GALGORM CASTLE

DG IRELAND 2024, Editor, Kevin Markham

Parkland golf doesn’t get much more elegant or tranquil than this.
Two rivers run through the course while charming lakes lace several fairways. They threaten and divide holes. With no changes in elevation this is as gentle a round as you’ll find – it is quite possibly the most sedate on this island – but it is also the home of
the ISPS Handa World Invitational (and will be again in 2023), so you know the quality will be excellent and the challenges can be ramped up if desired.

Despite its tournament reputation, Galgorm Castle is not designed to be punishing. The doglegs will test your positioning skills and the water can prove magnetic but you have room to manoeuvre.

And then there are the many mature trees spread over the estate – keep an eye out for the castle on your left as you drive in). Inviting greens, sweet par threes and great extras, too. And thanks to continuous investment the course is always being improved, with
the river on holes 11, 13 and 14 coming more in to play in 2023 and more attention being focused on the front nine in 2024.

Favourite Hole
The straight par five 18th is all on show from the tee.
Pick your way between the bunkers and tackle the
green’s large new water feature to end your round.
What’s in the Bag?
Strong driving will help open things up…
but breathe and relax for maximum enjoyment.
