Trump Turnberry has expanded its celebrated golfing portfolio with the launch of Trump’s Twelve, an innovative 12-hole par-3 course designed to offer a fresh challenge for golfers of every ability.
Located at the iconic resort in South Ayrshire, Scotland, Trump’s Twelve officially opened this week, adding a distinctive short-game experience alongside Turnberry’s renowned championship layouts, the Ailsa and King Robert the Bruce courses. Visitor access is priced at $160.
A New Kind of Golfing Challenge
Stretching from 70 to 206 yards, the 12 holes at Trump’s Twelve are designed to test precision, creativity and short-game strategy rather than simply rewarding distance.
The course has been developed on the former nine-hole Arran course and features multiple teeing grounds, giving golfers the opportunity to play holes from different distances. This flexibility makes the layout suitable for experienced golfers looking to sharpen their approach play, while also creating an accessible introduction to golf for beginners, families and junior players.
Large waste areas and strategically positioned water hazards add another layer of difficulty. Players will need to carefully consider club selection, trajectory and landing areas, making each hole a test of decision-making as much as execution.
Strengthening Turnberry’s Golf Offering
The launch of Trump’s Twelve forms part of a wider investment programme at Trump Turnberry. The resort has also recently enhanced the acclaimed Ailsa course and expanded its PGA-certified golf academy and practice facilities.
Eric Trump, executive vice-president of The Trump Organization, described the new course as an important addition to the resort’s golf offering, highlighting the different experience it provides while maintaining Turnberry’s focus on quality.
Nic Oldham, general manager of Trump Turnberry, also emphasised the course’s broad appeal. Trump’s Twelve is expected to complement the resort’s two established courses while providing a valuable venue for families, academy guests and experienced golfers focused on improving their short game.
The course will play an important role within the Trump Turnberry Golf Academy, supporting coaching, practice and player development.

A Rare 12-Hole Course in Scotland
Twelve-hole golf courses remain relatively uncommon in Scotland, making Trump’s Twelve an intriguing addition to the country’s golfing landscape.
One of the best-known examples is the historic Shiskine Golf Club on the Isle of Arran. More recently, Eastwood Twelve added another modern example of the format. Trump’s Twelve now joins this small group, demonstrating how shorter golf experiences can provide an alternative to traditional 18-hole layouts.
For Turnberry, the new course offers an opportunity to broaden its appeal without compromising its reputation as a destination for championship golf.
What Trump’s Twelve Means for Scottish Golf
With its combination of strategic hazards, varied teeing positions and short-game emphasis, Trump’s Twelve represents a modern approach to golf at one of Scotland’s most famous resorts.
Whether used for family golf, coaching sessions or serious short-game practice, the new 12-hole par-3 course adds another dimension to the Turnberry experience. Alongside the Ailsa and King Robert the Bruce, it gives golfers three distinctly different ways to experience golf at one of Scotland’s most prestigious golfing destinations.
Trump’s Twelve could ultimately prove that great golf does not always need 18 holes—and its arrival marks an exciting new chapter for golf at Turnberry.
