Next door to Royal Dublin, St. Anne’s is the other golf club on the peaceful Bull Island. At five kilometres long the island is, essentially, man made – the result of recommendations made by Captain ‘Mutiny-on-the-Bounty’ Bligh when he made soundings of Dublin Bay.
St. Anne’s possesses low bumpy dunes which offer little protection from the wind. This is why links golf can be so challenging: when the wind blows over these smooth, straight fairways you will need a strong variety of shots, especially into greens. Holes offer a good variety of lengths and tend to go in one of two directions – NE or SW – which only adds to the test. Enjoy the new clubhouse.
