MADRID NAMED “EUROPEAN CITY GOLF DESTINATION 2024” BY IAGTO

MADRID NAMED “EUROPEAN CITY GOLF DESTINATION 2024” BY IAGTO

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) has awarded Madrid the prestigious title of “European Golf Destination of the Year” for 2024. This recognition underscores the collaborative efforts of the Community of Madrid and the Madrid Golf Courses Association in positioning the region as a premier golf destination.

The award, decided by votes from IAGTO’s 660 global golf tour operators, highlights the excellence of Madrid’s golf courses and the successful promotional campaigns undertaken in recent years. Laura Martínez Cerro, Director General of Tourism and Hospitality for the Community of Madrid, expressed great pride in receiving the award, stating, “This recognition reflects the hard work we’ve done with the Madrid Golf Courses Association and solidifies Madrid’s reputation as Europe’s top golf destination.”

Enrique Gil Octavio de Toledo, President of the Madrid Golf Courses Association, also shared his enthusiasm, noting the region’s fantastic golf courses and the variety of tourist and gastronomic attractions that make Madrid a preferred destination. He emphasized the teamwork between the association and the Community of Madrid as key to this achievement.

The IAGTO Awards, now in their 24th year, are divided into three global regions, with the winners for Europe and Africa announced at the IAGTO European Convention (IEC) in Málaga.
