Carnoustie lies on Scotland’s stunning east coast. Golf has been played here since the 1500s. The present course came into being in 1850 and was designed by Alan Robertson. Later architects included Old Tom Morris and most famously, James Braid. There have been further changes over the decades, with James Wright creating the famous and feared final three holes in 1937, but it is Braid’s name mostly closely associated with a links that has hosted the Open Championship eight times.
