Golf tourism to the Canary Islands exceed one billion euros

The Canary Islands Golf Federation has announced that total spending by golf tourists exceeded one billion euros last year.

The Canary Islands have managed to consolidate golf as a driver of economic and tourism growth. With an increase in the influx of golf tourists and a commitment to sustainability, the region is positioned as one of Spain’s strongest golf destinations.

Pablo Llinares, Managing Director of Gran Canaria Tourism, said “The work being done by the Canarian Golf Federation and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation demonstrates that golf and tourism are a winning combination, as golf brings greater tourist spending, longer stays and de-seasonalisation.”

Gran Canaria is the host destination for IAGTO’s third annual European Convention (IEC) that will take place from 19-21 May 2025. Registrations are already at 70% capacity and applications to attend can be made online at www.iagto.com/IEC
