The golf tourism industry celebrated its much-anticipated inaugural IAGTO European Convention (IEC) this week in Marbella, Costa del Sol in typical Andalucian style.

Organised by global golf tourism organization IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) for the benefit of its member companies, the three-day event was attended by 634 delegates from 46 countries, making it IAGTO’s largest and most successful event to date. At the Opening Address it was announced that, due to overwhelming demand, IEC would return to Andalucía next year from 13-15 May 2024 and take place in the city of Málaga, the gateway to the Costa del Golf, where attendance is expected to exceed 800.

The golf tourism industry is booming and future trends look bright.

Desert Adventures, one of the leading destination management companies in the region recently hosted a press visit for Destination Golf team. Once a small fishing village in the middle of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is now one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the World. Rich in cultural heritage and tradition, it is a city of extraordinary experiences, a destination where everything is possible and a cosmopolitan hub where sky is never the limit. Among the city’s key tourist attractions include the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa; the world’s most luxurious hotel, the Burj Al Arab; and world’s largest man-made island, the Palm. But these are just some of the more popular sites of a massive tourism drive as the destination continues to break new frontiers. Our main travel feature offers some insights and tips to this incredible destination.
